HISTORICAL SKETCH

A government college in Mananthavady had been a long cherishananthavady taluk of Wayanad district.
A sponsoring committee- the North Wayanad education society - was formed for this purpose. Thus the dream came true when
the GOVT. COLLEGE MANANTHVADY started functioning with
Pre-degree III and IV groups with 80 students in each,
in a temporary shed attached to Thonicahl Church on 1st September 1981.
The college was affiliated to university of Calicut
(Till affiliated to Kannur university).

Sri. E.K. Nayanar, the then chief minister of Kerala inaugurated the college on 4th October 1981, at the function presided over by Sri. Baby John, the Minister for Education.
In 1983, the college was shifted to the newly constructed building with 5 rooms was also constructed by N.R.E.P. Scheme.
The college was upgrading by starting B.Com degree course in 1991-92.
B.A. English was started in 1993-94, B.A. Dev Economics in 1998-99 and Bsc. Electronics in 1999-2000.
Sri. P.J. Joseph the then Minister for Education of Kerala inaugurates the new permanent building on 27th February 1999, and the college was shifted to the permanent building.
